God is Strong

Today I had the opportunity to listen to Francis Chan (I really like Francis. See this post for another challenging sermon in the form of a book, Crazy love) .  Our church participated in One Prayer 2009 and Francis gave the message that hundreds of churches all over the world listened too. This series challenges us, as Christians, to come together to explore who God is. We need to make a lasting difference in our world. We need to join forces to share, serve and give as one.

I imagine that, like me, when people hear a sermon they apply it to where they are in their life. Today's sermon again reassured me that God is in complete control of everything, EVERYTHING. One point that really made me think was "Because God does it, it is fair."  So as I post about how there has been no approval, that some processes are taking longer than expected, that children are waiting, it is all fair. It is all fair because He is in control. It is all fair because this is God's plan.  He is the creator of the Universe. No one else will ever be what He is.

God tells us to be strong and courageous in Him.  We have His power behind us. We have His love backing us.  Several of the verses that Francis sites now mean something different to me. I needed to hear His words and see where I can go to get confirmation and encouragement during the adoption process as well as my daily life.  Here are a few of the verses:

Joshua 1:9 - This is My command - be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

2 Timothy 1:7 - For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline.

Psalm 115:3 - Our God is in the heavens, and He does as He wishes.

Isaiah 45:22-23 - Let all the world look to Me for salvation! For I am God; there is no other.  I have sworn by My own name; I have spoken the truth, and I will never go back on My word: Every knee will bend to Me, and every tongue will confess allegiance to me.

God is strong. God is powerful. God is sovereign. God is all knowing. God is GOD.  I am thankful that I serve a God who is this. I am thankful that I love a God who loves me so much.

My thoughts echo yours as I felt God tell me in my heart that this is already finished. He has done the work and now we can rest in Him until the time comes that He has ordained for us to become a family. My heart, though still desiring to her, is resting in a way I haven't since the beginning. It sounds like it is the same for you, as well. It is my prayer that we can both wait with peace in our heart and faith in his plan for all of us.
