June/July 2008 - Ashley got the adoption bug
August/September 2008- Ryan & Ashley did some serious praying about adoption
October 2008- We decided to adopt!
October 18, 2008 - Mailed our adoption application to AWAA
November 3, 2008 - Received approval from AWAA to adopt!
November 19, 2008 - 1st Home study meeting
November 25, 2008 - 2nd Home study meeting
December 2, 2008 - 3rd Home study meeting
December 16, 2008 - 4th & Final Home study meeting
December 29, 2008 - Home study approved by AWAA
December 31, 2008 - Send I-600a to US Dept of Homeland Security
January 15, 2009 - Receive fingerprint appointment
January 29, 2009 - Fingerprinting done and all of our dossier documents authenticated
February 12, 2009 - Received our I-171H approval in a record 2 weeks!
February 18, 2009 - Completed Dossier and sent to AWAA
March 20, 2009 - Dossier Approved by the Rwandan Embassy and sent via Fedex to Rwanda
March 26, 2009 - Dossier lands in Rwanda!
April 2009 - Waiting for Rwandan Approval
May 2009 - Another month waiting
May 22, 2009 - sent new/updated documents to AWAA
June 2009 - waiting continues
July 2009 - more waiting (month 4)
August 2009 - more waiting (month 5)
August 20, 2009 - received approval (approval was dated August 12) 21 weeks complete waiting time for approval
Sept & Oct, Nov 2009 - waiting for referral
November 9, 2009 - received our referral
November 16, 2009 - received our medical info
November 23, 2009 - successful court date
November 26-Dec 16, 2009- traveled to Rwanda
December 16, 2009 - home with Grace!
Summer 2010 - knew we would adopt again
November 2010 - started the required dhs training
December 2010 - finished training/started homestudy
January 2011 - finished homestudy/started waiting
February 11, 2011- our adoption resource file is open
March-Oct 2011 - waiting, wondering, praying
Oct 2011 - failed private adoption
Nov-Dec 2011 - reevaluation
January - decided to adopt from Uganda, started the process!
February - all of our paperwork is complete! Sent off for our fingerprinting!
